The school affirms that homework is an integral part of the curriculum and supports children’s learning during all key stages. The School sees the purpose of homework as being:
Type and amount of homework
This will vary depending on the age and ability of the pupil but will always have an emphasis on numeracy and literacy. Tasks will reflect the ability of the pupils and provide opportunities for them to gain success. The government makes recommendations for the amount of homework that should be given. This school feels the following allocations are best suited to the children.
Key Stage 1
Pupils will receive an average of 1hr per week, taking the form of shared reading, spellings, other literacy work and numeracy work.
Key Stage 2
Pupils will receive an average of 1hr 30 mins. per week. This again will take the form of shared reading, spellings, numeracy and literacy work, but now with occasional assignments from other areas of the curriculum.
