Sixth Form

The Sixth Form caters for students who are not yet ready to move on to further education at college or in the workplace. This may be that their academic skills, particularly in English and Maths, need further development or that they need to improve their social, personal and independence skills. The curriculum is based around Asdan awards in Personal and Social Development as well as Employability. These will be followed at a level appropriate to the individual student as well as continued work on functional English and Maths. There is more emphasis placed on choice and self-reliance, as students are able to make choices around both leisure and sporting activities. Students will also spend one day following a vocational course either at an external provider/college or on the school site.

Sixth Form Aims:
  • To respond to individual learners’ requirements.
  • To provide essential communication skills.
  • To provide skills for adult life.
  • To provide skills for working life.
  • To give pupils confidence to become active citizens.

Entry to the Sixth Form is by application during the December or January of Year 11. Places will be agreed by the Local Authority based on need. Click to view/download an application form. (PDF, Word)
